The answer is YES! Here’s a little clip that shows just how true that statement is…. (I especially like the accents from different parts of the U.S.)

My name is Annie Ruden M.S. CCC-SLP and I’m a Certified Accent Reduction Specialist, English Pronunciation Coach, or whatever you would like to call a person who helps non-native English speakers learn clear and accurate American English pronunciation.
Through all of my years of training and experience in the field of communication I have earned the right to put all of those letters behind my name. I know, it’s a little over-the-top but I promise, they do serve a purpose.
Let me explain what they mean…
M.S. – indicates that I earned a Masters degree in Communication Sciences
The CCC stands for my Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. To get my C’s (as we in the field refer to it as) I had to work for a year (post graduate program) with a supervisor as I did my clinical work. To keep those C’s behind my name I am required to pay fees and do continuing education in my field. It’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it!
In addition to all those letters, I have receiving certification from other excellent accent training programs including – Compton ESL and Accent Masters. I continue to sharpen my skills through reading and especially hands-on experience with my clients. Honestly, it’s my clients that teach me the most. They are constantly giving me ideas and feedback which I am SO grateful to receive!
The other thing you need to know about me……. I LOVE TEACHING ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION! Everything from analyzing a persons speech to the interesting conversations I get to have with my clients, it all is too much FUN to be called work!
This blog/website was created because although I enjoy working with my clients one-on-one, I realized it was not feasible (in both location and $$) for the hundreds of thousands of you out there who want to improve your English pronunciation. I want to provide all of you who are interested and motivated with high-quality English pronunciation training at a price you can afford (free is pretty affordable, don’t you think?). Then, for those of you who want to get the personalized attention of private training, we have that option for you as well (but not for free, sorry:).
So, be patient with me as we grow and construct this site to become what you need it to be. Please give me feedback as to how I can best help YOU!
Oh…. and don’t be shy about telling everyone you know about this site. Spread the word, I’m ready to teach English Pronunciation!
